As hearing aid technology advances, so must our clinical approach—especially for older adults facing both hearing loss and cognitive decline. This session explores how traditional fittings can unintentionally increase distortion and listening effort, and how evidence-based, cognitive-informed strategies can enhance outcomes.

Attendees will learn to:

  • Apply cognitive-informed fitting strategies to reduce distortion and improve communication.
  • Integrate auditory processing and cognitive considerations into selection, programming, and counseling.
  • Use acoustic principles to minimize distortion and optimize clarity.
  • Evaluate and apply advanced AI-driven hearing aid features for complex auditory and cognitive needs.

Why Attend?

Join us for an inspiring and educational event that makes a global impact. By attending this CEU-eligible session, you’re not only enhancing your clinical knowledge, you’re helping transform hearing healthcare in Malawi.

All proceeds will support the launch of a locally owned, self-sustaining audiology clinic led by Yamikani Dumbo, one of Malawi’s first audiologists and a graduate of the African Bible College Hearing Clinic and Training Centre. Yamikani is a powerhouse- kind, determined, and deeply committed to bringing hearing care to thousands who have never had access before. Your participation helps turn education into action and ensures that people in Malawi don’t just hear better, they gain a voice, an education, and a future.
